May 2019 TLC medallion sales data and analysis by Jim Shenwick

The May 2019 TLC medallion sales data has posted and there were approximately 37 transfers, 27 transfers were the result of foreclosures. Of the non-foreclosure transfers the prices ranged from a low of $100,00 to a high of $230,000, with an average price of approximately $168,000. A couple of points to consider: 1. 73% of the transfers were a result of foreclosures, which indicate that many medallion owners are abandoning their “under water” medallions to their banks, 2. Sales volume remains low and 3. Medallion prices continue to fall and remain low.
